i had an email from SciFiCollector, as did everyone who had pre-ordered the Wave 2 figures, telling them about the special editions etc.  This was the first time they had offered single figures, other than the whole set.

What did concern me was the fact i had cancelled an order for the set and i emailed them to make sure they had adjusted their records.  The reply was 'sorry, we just went from the original list, it will be cancelled in the shop' - ok, not a problem - BUT saying the delivery date would be June/July!!  They went on to say and i quote, 'i trust Forbidden Planet have contacted you as i understand there are some security issues'.   Huh?  twitch  Emailed again and this was the reply,

"There is plenty about the FP issue on the forums. Not very good for them at all. Their company line at the moment is that they are still investigating, but I understand that they were meant to be contacting all customers. Someone told me it was all the security records held over the past year that had been comprised. I know people that have had fraud committed on their account and loads that have been advised to cancel their cards.  It's awful really.

Forbidden Planet International (.co.uk) have just released this:
I'm the owner of FPI and wanted to take some time to reply to your issues. There have been some problems with credit cards in the past few weeks. This is currently under investigation both by ourselves and external agencies.

We have been told that our online system is working as it should and that the problem lies elsewhere. Due to the circumstances we have been asked not to discuss anything in detail until the case is concluded. I realize that this is distressing for our Customers: as it is for us. I trust that you can show us patience until everything has been resolved. For any of you who feel let down, I apologise wholeheartedly and unreservedly. As you know, FPI has put the Collector first for many years, and will continue to do so. Dr Who Fans are aware that we are taking steps to continue many figure lines, for instance, which might otherwise have ended.

We need your support on projects like this, and we hope that we will have it in future. Our Customer Services will hopefully be able to answer all your questions regarding orders, so please continue to direct them to

annemarie@fpinternational.co.uk

Best regards Kenny Penman

Initially we did hope for April, which, at the time, was when Children of Earth was going to be aired. We then set it back to Summer and end of June is the mostly likely time. We fly the pre-order stock in which means this is with us about 3 weeks plus ahead of the main stock. There can be further delays with the main stock as shipping/customs are often problematic. Assuming pre-order stock is late June, general stock should be with other dealers by late July/August.

As you can tell by the limited editions, barring the Wave 2 new packaging which is still being designed, we're all set to go figure-wise."

Regards,

Needless to say this did not make me a happy bunny as i have not heard one word from FP.  i do have pre-orders in for several Capt John figures, however, but i will leave them in situ until i hear otherwise - and keep a close eye on the situation.  i shot off an email to Forbidden Planet asking what was the sitch and will report any replies.

i'll be at Union Chapel for James' concert on Friday and will look over the special edition figures.  If they are nice enough, i will probably get Capt John [to make sure i do actually get one!] and wait for the pre-orders to come good at the end of June.
*wipes sweat off brow*
i dunno, there's always something, ain't there??!!

Have a good week, guys and i'll see some of you this weekend!

Yup I've tracked down the cancelling on my card to FB. My visa company just cancelled the card before fraud was committed, but of course didn't tell us until we tried to use it online!!!

They were able to shut your credit card DOWN?? Gad, this is horrible and horrifying... i had no idea any of this was going on as i rarely go on the Dr Who forums.

FP have tried hard to keep it close to their chests obviously! i'm not sure who i'm most mad at, the visa company, the banks - the fraudsters, of course!

i hope you are all okay now. i'm in a cleft stick as to whether i'll cancel my pre-orders now or not. FP are saying hang in there, we have it sussed - so i may do that but will see what happens on Friday, whether or not i like the figure... *gives it hairy eyeball*
