Couldn't resist Dhamphir's adorable dancing canes!  One of several generous people who personalise icons for others; aren't they lovely?
Down to the Doctors again this morning, attempting to do a blood test.  Made sure i'd drunk enough water and avoid dehydration this time!  And yes, it worked and blood flowed freely.  The problem with fasting blood tests is that i associate fasting with operations, with a nil-by-mouth from midnight, which means no water either [except for sucking an ice cube if you get desperate]. Gruesome topic!  i had to shift the Doctor's appointment as there's not enough time for the results to come back.  Next nearest one is Christmas Eve!

i'm off to see the second of the Hobbit films, the 'Desolation of Smaug' tonight at the Arts Cinema.  i hadn't realised there were actually three theatres there as the entrance is pretty small, but the theatres are not on ground level.  You go up to the first floor for the foyer, which hosts the little shop/bar area, toilets etc and then up again to the second floor for the actual theatres.  A real Tardis affair!  i'm looking forward to that - and hopefully it will stop drizzling rain by then!

i saw Kirstie Allsop making some Christmas baubles recently and i liked them so much, i decided to make some of my own.  First, buy your polystyrene balls... which i did.  i had some buttons & beads and lots of pearl headed pins, but quickly realised i needed lots more b&b's - and ribbons to hang them. i bought more buttons & beads, pins and ribbons. i love Amazon, you can find almost as much variety there now as on Ebay, and at SUCH reasonable prices - i mean, 20 meters of ribbon for £2.84, what would you? i've bought enough to make a few bows, if i feel to, after i've strung however many baubles i make.  Kirstie was using 10cm balls but i opted for the smaller 7cm ones.  It's been a delight to have these lovely things coming though my letterbox, really like Christmas!  i'm part the way through the second one... i'll take some pictures when i've done some more.

i do have some Christmas decorations up, not many it's true, but i can only muster enough enthusiasm for a few pretties before i get bored!  i have a Santa and a Snowman next to the TV and my fibre-optic tree, which i haven't decorated yet.  i may not do that at all.  i do have some strings of beads and tinsel but haven't decided yet.  It's not really big enough for the baubles, or is it?

Some clever cakes, wonderful beeswax candles,

In case the Batman/Sherlock cartoon isn't big enough to read the words, Sherlock says 'Bruce Wayne', then 'Sensitive fellow'.
Have a great weekend!  i'm off out to Jamie's to celebrate my birthday on Sunday!
Toodles!

Hope you had a nice meal at Jamies and enjoyed the film! HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR TODAY!!

I do love those lego cakes and the cat cartoon. The Bruce Wayne one is brilliant too :)

I really liked the Kirstie Alsop crafts for Christmas, and I made a few things this year. I made dried orange slices which I did last year and they look fabulous on the tree.

I'm doing pretty good, thank you! i really enjoyed The second Hobbit installment on Friday night and have had a super lazy couple of days [nothing new there then!] and took myself out to Jamie's Italian tonight. i had crispy squid with garlic mayonnaise [a favourite of mine], treated myself to a rare filet steak with crispy mushrooms, cannelli beans and roasted baby potatoes - my only bitch was that i wished they'd peeled the tatties! Not crazy about roasteds in their skins; it's fine for plain boiled. Seeing as how it is my birthday, Jamie shouted me a bottle of prosecco, which was nice. And my waiter fronted up with a free brownie for dessert, on a huge plate, so they could write Happy Birthday on it! Awwwww.... thank you! Topped it off with a cappuccino. The steak was vastly overpriced but very nice. i shall probably fall over in a carb-stupor shortly!
