So that was my birthday...

Oh the joys of having an ensuite bathroom and your own loo!!  wonderful.....  Spent my birthday half sorting through paperwork and trying to rest up on my hip.  i had some birthday cards, thankyou! and one or two Christmas cards.. amazing.  Trin sent me a James one page calendar she made, nice piccies!
i had a really nice chicken kebab in a pita pocket for dinner, with a spoonfull of chilli sauce, lettuce, tomato and lightly pickled cabbage, finely shredded, covered in garlic mayo - and real chips!  Good clean takeaway shop just over the road a bit.   And i had some ice cream for afters, yum...
Forgot it was Friday though.  i meant to do several things today, which will now have to wait till Monday but i will get my applications & letters finished off tomorrow morning.  There is a letter box a little further down the road and a Post Office about 10 minutes walk the other way, so good position.  i bought a lampshade from an opshop for 40p for the ceiling light but will have to get Paul [Room 2] to put the light cord extension up for me, [i will then be able to manage the lampshade] as i am about three inches too short!!   Kostas would be about 9" too short -  though i'm sure he would be willing!!

Found that there is a doctors' surgery three minutes walk passed the letterbox and i have requested to be included on their register.   Found a Yellow pages [BT are posting me a phone book, first time it has ever cost me money, £3.65!] and will start looking for a dentist...  i have a broken tooth that needs crowning, that the NHS can pay for i think... not sure when i can get an appointment, being just before Christmas.   Why do i have to try and do all this at this time of year?  Bloody hotel...  typical...  proving yet again, they really do not give a good goddamn about people.
i do have most the applications for account insurance ready, waiting for the Social to complete when i apply next week.  i have to wait until the 22nd!!! before i can apply.   Bloody hotel!!   i have to get a photo for a new driver's licence before i can get that renewed [no, i don't have a car but it is useful for identification] but have alerted National Insurance, most of my accounts online and websites, of new address etc...  what a palaver!
i find i'm going to have to make an effort to go out and keep in touch with the world, while i get sorted - too easy to submerge and forget it...   Resting my hip is really an excuse...  ho ho...   But i must throw out more stuff - 4 or 5 boxes earmarked already...  just to DO it...
cuppa tea must wait - just realised it's 2am...  no wonder i'm a bit tired...  LOL
nite all

Nesting is definitely a pitfall, but I think that one of the upsides of a move is having the time to get the feel of a new place - It's hell trying to get together a place if you jump into a new job at the same time. They say it takes months to recover from the stress of a single major event.

So go at your own place. a good carry away place close by is worth its weight in gold, and neighbors who will help are too.

true words of wisdom there!
Thank you, darling! Never easy getting older, not that i mind per say, but it's the annoying stuff that goes with it! All the aches & pains and teeth falling apart!
i am doing 2-3 boxes a day and currently trying to find my pots & pans! i know they are here somewhere.... That loud whooping noise will be me finding them!
Take care, love

I'm in this place going on three years and I'm still having "Oh, that's where you've been for the past two and a half years!" moments. LOL

Happy Belated Birthday!

Merry Christmas. Happy New Year.

I agree with Sami. I've been in my house for 5 1/2 years and I still find things and think "hell, who put that there?!?!?!" LOL. Nothing wrong with taking your time unpacking.

Thanks honey!
i don't have the luxury of that long but as the landlords are cool with the boxes in the corridor, the tenants will just have to grit their teeth. Kostas thinks i'm sliced bread at the moment as he took the box of music cassettes i was throwing out and found some Greek music in it!
Found some pans and knives, forks etc but still haven't found the deoderant/computer programmes box.. too irritating...
i'll see YOU in May, yes? are JMLive-ing again?

no probs, babe, why would you know - Lynnie forgot the thread! But it is so crazy at this time of year, it really doesn't bother me... Although there were a couple of ladies that maybe could have remembered *shrugs* no biggie....
i had a long chat with the cousins a couple of days before and they sent me birthday, Christmas AND moving best wishes cards - with a nice little cheque, ta very much! Had cards from other friends too, so not feeling neglected...
i hope you & Hubs are going to have a blast this Christmas and to hell with all the aches & pains, huh?!! i intend to have a glass or two - if i can find the bottle!!

Glad you had a good birthday and the new place seems to be shaping up. :) I changed my snail mail addy at the bank recently and the following week they sent my new card and pin to my previous address. Pathetic. Hope you have better luck. :)

Yeah, know that one... due to time constraints, i had to put in my re-direction order AFTER i moved but it's in place now.
i finally found some pans! so i can do some cooking now, thanks be - that was the muffled shreik you all heard last night! Now if i can only find what i did with the deoderant... i know i stuffed two sprays in the top of a box... but which one... mmmm, maybe it's that one... *trots off to investigate*
later, love
