What i really don't like about winter days is the shortness and pathetic amount of light... at 11am this morning you could have been forgiven for thinking it was about 4pm, it was so gloomy.  Brief bit of sun, then, zilch.  Little spatter of rain and i dashed up to the shop for bread & milk and to drop off a bag i've been putting together for the charity shop, then straight home.  And of course, the sky cleared around 3pm, just in time to loose the damn light!  It is supposed to be fine and sunny tomorrow, so we shall see.
It's the Mill Road Winter Fair tomorrow too, so it would help if it was fine.  Most of the road is closed to traffic from about 10.30am to 4.00pm, i think.  Last year, it was fine and LOADS of people turned out; made it quite difficult to navigate the road on me scooter!  There are a couple of things i'd like to see & do, with a stall in the Hope St Yard and the photocopy place doing book binding [fancy doing that], mind you with my luck, the world and his wife will want to do that too! Next day, on Sunday is the Cambridge Vintage Fair, which they hold in the Guildhall.  Too 'iffy' to try and do it outside.  It was mostly clothes last year, which was a tad boring.  There were 2 rooms, one had some food & drink stalls in amongst the clothing racks and a little cafe at the back but there were more general stalls in the next room [they were interlinked].  Sadly, most of those were clothing racks too but there was the occasional jewellery stall.  Not a huge amount of 'things', like brick-a-brack or old linens.  Let's hope it's more varied this year.  i'll have to get my bum out of bed a bit earlier both days, if i'm to see anything...  i'll let you know how i get on.
Anna & i went to the Fair at Milton Keynes a while back, which is much bigger and we had a really fun day.  i persuaded her to buy a lovely multi-coloured wool coat - she look so terrific in it and she did love it.  i picked up a super old tablecloth and a few bits & bobs.  It was quite a marked difference in the winter weather and the summer Fair.  We came back in darkness this time.  i managed to trap my left hand in the bus loo door - OUCH!! when it swerved round a corner and for a minute i wasn't sure how badly i was hurt.  It has taken quite a few weeks to stop hurting and for the bump on the back of my hand to be smoothed down; there's still a small bump even now but WAY better.  Problem with your hands, you catch them on everything.
The tickets for the 2015 Folk Festival went on sale on the 1st and i ordered my ticket.  Whoever comes, i'll be going.  i would really love them to invite k. d. lang again...
i went to the cinema/theatre a couple of times since i posted last, to see 'To Kill A Mockingbird' - did i say this already?  poor old lady, probably did!
But i went to see the next episode of the Hunger Games, Mockingjay Part 1.  It's such a good story and capture Katniss' reluctant involvement well, almost to the point where you want to shake her [as i did in the book!].  The special effects are very good, though i felt the second film just had it beat there.  It's well worth seeing in the cinema to get the full effect of the fighting.
i'm booked to see the last Hobbit film, the 'Battle of the Five Armies' a week on Sunday and i'm looking forward to that; it'll be quite the spectacle.
i'm about to make some letter garlands for Christmas & Birthdays, see the picture. Clever, no? Although getting coloured card locally can be a bit thin on the ground and i had to get some online, which arrived today.  i'll show you the finished ones when i'm done.

I luv that little owl. :D Dark here today, I've put lights up and they glow at any time as it's so gloomy. No wonder we need a festival in the middle of winter whatever the reason. :)

That's the answer really, isn't it? Chuck on the lights - i swear my electric bill must double in winter! i leave my blue rope Christmas lights up round the bookcases but don't put them on all the time. They do look pretty. :D
