Last day of May! Astonishing how time flies...
Same 'ol, same 'ol, not much happening. Some meetings [mostly went well], doctor's appointments [not as well and change of statin] and a couple of dinners out, trying new places. Went Frankie & Bennys at the Leisure Centre, Hills Road, to try the pasta. i always have spag bol to test it out. Spag was fine, but sauce was very mediocre sadly, not much taste and needed salt. We were mid-theatre going and went back for coffee & cake. Good coffee [they have a machine] but my cheese cake was kinda dry at the edges and needed the tiny scoop of canilla icecream.  The waitress really didn't want to hear anything other than 'good'; shame. Won't be going again to eat.
Second place was the newly opened 'Traditioni', Italian on Mill Road, Broadway, next to the Sea Tree fish shop [ i do like their fish, when they take the bones out - and will skin it, if you ask. You shouldn't have to but i blame 'cheffyness' for that, and sadly, their chips are pretty crap].  Tried the Bol 'ragu' - not a ragu, that takes hours to simmer.  This was a rather tasteless sauce with very little substance, knocked up in a hurry.  They did do a very nice antipasto plate for £5, [a large one is available too] with a couple of fingers of foccacia, three kinds of cheese with a nice chutney and a fried fritter with spinach? also some mortadella and thinly sliced cold porchetta. Small handful of rocket to go with.  Nice coffee, couldn't fault that.  My chemist came in to buy some truffle oil and he said the pizza was good.  It is a small menu, with cans of drink in the fridge, no wine - they charge 'corkage' to bring your own. They do 'takeaways' and there were several while i was there. And if you order enough, about £15 i think, they will deliver.  i doubt if i will.
Char phoned last Wednesday, still fighting the good fight and on her last part of the latest chemo.  We have our fingers crossed and she feels okay so far.  She has great fighting spirit to have overcome the dreadful things that have happened to her since she got cancer, and to keep fighting on.  Nobody should have to go through what she has.  i'd do a rant and blame God, if i believed it existed, as i fail to see how this makes or even prepares for a perfect world. 'Nuff said.
i'll cheer us up with pictures - from tiny mice, mad cats, to big deserted buildings, an amazing cake like a library, a 40m statue of Genghis Khan and a perfect flower photo

Those cat things are very odd and slightly disturbing - not sure I'd like to encounter them in the dark LOL!

Love that library cake.

It's a shame the weather has gone all horrible as we approach June ...

i guess you'd need a sense of the bizarre to like the cats but i think it's a clever way to use up old wool. :D
So much work in the library cake, which i adore! The weather has been so odd lately, with clouds, spatters of rain, then sunshine; very confused. i do like clear cooler days and dislike a lot of heat. Had enough of that to last a lifetime! i'm happy to live in a country that does have 4 seasons and never get bored with it

i especially like the solo cat, his eyes don't even match! There is something about huge empty buildings and those massive underground spaces that just knocks me out. We can walk right by them and over them and never know how amazing they are. Yes, i think they are peonies. Don't really care for pink but the clarity and composition of the shot are lovely :D
