It's been a really pretty day, all sun and very little cloud. Temperatures are getting a little cooler, so for me, the best kind of weather.
i didn't see much of it though as i went to our local auction.  i had a fair wait for the items i was interested in - a couple of pictures - and amused myself writing down the unexpected big prices for some items.  Normal line-up of china, pottery, glass, bic-a-brac and jewellery were up first, then the silver before the picture/paintings etc, some 300 lots.  i had a couple of breaks before that and a quick spot of lunch in their cafe.  At last my patience was rewarded and the picture section started.  i really like Peter Nuttall and look forward to one or two turning up.This sale did us proud with THREE!  One was a knight on a horse with a hawk (quite big), second was a knight's head in armour (1978) and quite unusual, a small landscape.  i could live without the first and last, but did fancy the knight's head - and too my delight, i got it for a really reasonable price.  He doesn't have a white line across his nose, that's a reflection on the glass!

i was prepared for the picture to be expensive and so this gave me some wiggle-room for the other pen print i fancied.  It's called 'The Quarrell' (1929) and i got it for a song as i was the only one interested! Dorothy Morse Brown is the artist and i've never heard of her; good though, wasn't she? i must look her up.

That's it for now, take care and have a lovely weekend.

Nice purchases - you must have a lot of wall space. I’m running out and have to keep rotating stuff.

You wouldn't believe it but i have a really severely limited wall space, as i can't get a nail or screw into the solid concrete block walls! i wind up with them all propped up against the front of the cupboards and on top of the radiators i never use.

I like The Quarrel. :) Wouldn't want it on my wall though, too negative. I like fuzzy stuff like Degas ballerinas.

i do have quite a catholic taste for sure, but it would be boring if we all liked the same things, no?
