One rather cold night to go...

Well, i'm almost there.

i've been steadily ticking off my checklist - sorted Chemist to deliver pills & Doctor to fax them the prescriptions;
put mucho money on my electric key;
changed the towels, put my new plastic stool in the showertray and lowered the showerhead;
phoned & emailed everyone who needs to know;  asked my neighbour to keep an eye on my mail;
sorted kitchen and bought a spare fluorescent tube, changed all the rubbish bags;
done a dust-sweep-wet mop out of the flat yesterday;
filled the freezer with ready cooked meals, chicken pieces, frozen prawns &  frozen vegetables [the gods bless microwaves];  put in an order with Tesco for next week [i can always bring it forward!] for fresh veggies etc.

i've booked a taxi for 06.30am tomorrow morning and assembled all the stuff i'm taking into hospital with me - some 'soft' pants & a couple of tops i can exercise in, nighties [!!], underwear, toiletries & facecloth, some books & a journal.  Just need to pack up my backpack now.

i always organise a daily newspaper asap too and i may get the TV put on, if i'm to be there 4 nights or more - so will need some money but will leave my wallet home and just take my purse.  i'm hoping Monday should satisfy them i'm doing everything the way i should and let me go home!

i'm 3/4 of the way through bringing my laundry up-to-date and i've had a sort through the suitcases under the bed.
i was actually looking for the waist pinny that Joan made me years ago, and taking out a couple of sheets and pillowcases [and putting them in easy reach] - haven't found the pinny yet but threw out a couple of dresses and tops for the church shop.
i've been up to the pharmacy and got my latest batch of pills - damned cold out there!  i posted a couple of letters and took the clothes to the church shop.  i sat on the wall outside St Phillip & St Stephens Church to wait for my taxi home and watched the blackest cloud roll up from the south-west.  It very kindly waited until i got home before it rained, with hailstones in it and the temperature has dropped even further.  i will probably put the heating on for an hour or so later, just to keep the flat warm enough for the evening before turning it off for the night.

i'm nil-by-mouth from midnight, of course, and i rang Ward C8 this afternoon to check-in as requested and i'm to go straight to the Theatre Admissions Unit on arrival, not the ward - 7am, ye gods!  She advised me to get a porter as it's a hike apparently.  Fine and he can show me the way the same time.  Turn right out of the lift, follow purple line? W-a-a-a-ay down to the end of the corridor apparently.  i only go up to the ward after the op.  *shrugs*  Suits me...just get my gear up there too, yeah?
Only the second time i've had a same day admission, except for emergency admissions, of course - had a couple of those.  Much more usual to be admitted the night before but i guess they are pretty busy and i'm not a kiddie they feel the need to regulate.

So i think i'm about as ready as i can be...  Must get a couple of plastic bags for facecloth and dirty laundry...
i guess that's it, guys and i'll see you next week.  Say one for me tomorrow...  And thank you all of you who have sent good wishes and nice thoughts, it helps.

Good luck for tomorrow! Don't rush the recovery and I'm sure you'll be back home in no time.
